Lawyer Besart Logu has reacted to the "house arrest" security measure that SPAK issued against him today.
Logu is accused of exercising unlawful influence, after allegedly taking 8,000 euros from a client in order to influence justice officials to ease his security measures. He has denied the charges against him, saying he is ready to face the charges.
In a public reaction, Logu says that he has not been involved in any episode of corruption and that he has done his job with devotion.
He also says that he did not meet with any justice official nor did he receive the money for exercising illegal influence.
The lawyer says that when the BKH officers arrived to communicate the house arrest measure, he was at the entrance to the building and was taking his daughter to the garden.
Full reaction:
Today, at around 08:30 in the morning, while I was taking my daughter to kindergarten and then starting my daily routine, I was stopped at the entrance of the building by Economic Crime agents of the General Directorate of the State Police, where I was informed of the decision of the GJKKO regarding the security measure and personal search, of the apartment and of the office where I work.
During the search, no illegal items or any other evidence related to the subject of the investigation was found.
From the above, I clarify that:
1. No action has been taken on my part that could raise suspicions of any possible criminal offense. Throughout my career as a lawyer, I have served with great devotion and responsibility, prioritizing only the client's interest and this within the framework regulated by law.
2. In relation to the specific case, I have not been involved in any episode of corruption or illegal act. I have only done the work of a lawyer, both in setting up the defense and in meetings with family members and acquaintances of the client, whether these are undercover agents. I am able to prove my every act and prove all the claims raised by the Prosecution. This is because there is nothing new except the daily routine of a lawyer.
The bad news in this whole story is that there is an attempt to criminalize the behavior of lawyers. This tendency is also seen in the amendments to the Criminal Code, where the government considers as a criminal element even the case where you have received more money than you have provided services.
So, I am willing to face this accusation because I am convinced of an absolute truth:
▪︎ I have not received any money for exercising illegal influence.
▪︎ I have not met any justice official
▪︎ And no illegal service has been taken back.
This is proven by the case in question and its entire course.
The only current problem for me is the concern created among my family and acquaintances, whom I take the opportunity to thank for the moral support they have given me.
PS, when I was in front of the police agents, I remembered the Fadil Hasa sketch where the political prosecution of the time communicated the charges and he said to himself, "How dangerous I must have been!"
