Lawyer Alesia Balliu has spoken about the massive protests that have been taking place for the past few days, which she describes as an expression of dissatisfaction accumulated for years in various sectors of public life.
Balliu said that citizens are reacting to problems related to health, education and the justice system, while demanding a new governance model.
According to her, the protests represent an opposition to what she described as government arrogance and the influence of political interests in decision-making.
"It is a protest against the arrogance of the government and a reaction to the daily problems of citizens. There is a lot of dissatisfaction in health, education and law. Citizens are looking for a new Albania, free from political influences and individuals involved in corrupt affairs. Youth participation is the most important element, because youth are looking for change," Balliu said.
She particularly praised the participation of young people in the protest, considering it an important indicator for future political and social developments in the country.
"Youth is the engine of these protests. When young people get involved, change is inevitable. The harsh reactions on social media show a growing concern on the part of the government, because citizens are openly expressing their dissatisfaction and are no longer silent," she added to Ora News.
According to Balliu, the continuity and participation in recent protests show that civic dissatisfaction remains present and that the demand for change is finding more and more support, especially among the younger generation.
