Temperatures 7-8 degrees higher, which cities will be most affected

Meteorologist Lajda Porja made the weather forecast, emphasizing that, since the entire continent is under the influence of high temperatures, Albania will also be significantly affected by this heat wave.

According to the meteorologist, Albania expects temperatures no higher than 37° or 38°, where, as she also pointed out, the month of June will end with temperatures that are 7 or 8 degrees higher than they should be.

"The entire European continent is under the influence of heat from the African hot air masses, bringing very high temperatures. Albania, although on the outskirts of this wave, expects a week with quite high temperatures. It is predicted that by Wednesday the thermometer will be around 36°, some isolated areas and 37°. Meanwhile, the second part of the week, mainly Friday and the weekend, will bring another increase in temperatures. Albania expects temperatures no higher than 37° or 38°.

It will mainly be the northeast in the first part of the week, and in the second part of the week, so from Thursday, Friday and the weekend, the southeastern areas will be more at risk. The central areas, Tirana, Elbasan are not excluded, where we expect to have short-term showers that will be in the second part of the day. High temperatures, already at the height of summer that we are, will accompany us almost not only this week, but also during the next week. The days will be hot, occasionally and very hot.

However, let's say that the month of June will end with temperatures that are 7 or 8 degrees higher than they should be. We expect the highest values to be recorded in the Shkodra region, the Berat region, the Elbasan region, the Gjirokastra region. These will also be the regions that will record the highest values.

"It is predicted that the maximum, as we have said, will be in the interval from 10:30-11:00 am to 14:30 pm. This is the interval where we expect to have peak hours, and we always give warnings that those who do not need to travel during this peak hour should avoid them and stay hydrated," she said.

Asked by the journalist what the situation will be like for the region, the meteorologist said that the same thing affects the region, where Friday and the weekend will mark high temperatures.

"The Republic of Kosovo and North Macedonia today and tomorrow are experiencing temperatures of 31, 32 to 34°. North Macedonia is expected to see the heat go away a little later. We expect even higher temperatures on Thursday and Friday and at the weekend. Kosovo will mainly have stable weather and isolated showers.

Meanwhile, North Macedonia throughout the week will be very hot in the morning, sunny, and in the afternoon, almost every afternoon, there will be a risk of rain showers, occasional wind storms and hail. They predict that the highest temperatures will be on Saturday. So Saturday will also be the hottest day for the countries of the region, and then Saturday and Sunday will follow, and the whole next week will be under the influence of high temperatures, " said Porja.
