Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have blocked some quantities of peaches from Albania, after they were found to contain prohibited pesticides.
The case was initially detected by European Union Food Safety authorities during a border check on Croatia, an EU member state.

The control exercised on peaches from Albania, which were entering the European market through Croatia, has revealed that these fruits had a high iron content.

The origin of these pesticide-tainted peaches is Albania, as announced by the EU's RASFF agency.

Meanwhile, another shipment of peaches from Albania has been blocked in the Bosnia-Herzegovina market, containing pesticides.
According to Bosnian media, a shipment of peaches from Albania had a high content of the substance "chlorpyrifos", a banned pesticide. Their use poses a health risk, especially for children.
Bosnian media also mention the name of an Albanian company that exports peaches and other food products to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
