Unlike the three previous protests, today's protest against the project in Zvërnec was accompanied by tensions from the very first moments of its launch.
The protesters faced the police cordon and managed to remove the metal fence placed near the Lana Bridge, attempting to continue their march.
On the other hand, the police reacted by using a water cannon to disperse the crowd. The security forces did not allow the protesters to pass towards the Prime Minister's Office, arguing that the Albania-Israel match was taking place at the "Air Albania" stadium and special security measures had been taken.
Despite the tensions, the protesters declared that their protest was peaceful and that they did not intend to use violence. They claimed that they were attacked by the police with a water cannon, while rejecting any possibility of dialogue at that moment.
Amidst chants of "Resign, resign," the protesters continued the rally and began giving speeches, expressing their opposition to the Zvërnec project.
"We are not violent and we will not use force in this protest. The police attacked us with a water cannon, but our protest will continue peacefully. We do not accept dialogue, we demand the removal of the government," said a protester.
