Chaos during the fourth protest against the tourism project. Law enforcement uses water vehicles to prevent the advance of protesters.
Tensions have been high for the fourth consecutive protest against the tourism project in Zvërnec. Thousands of citizens gathered in Tirana this afternoon to oppose the investment, while the first clashes with the police began in the "Ura e Lanës" area, where a metal fence had been placed as part of security measures for the friendly match between Albania and Israel.
The protesters started from Skanderbeg Square and marched towards the Prime Minister's Office. As soon as they arrived near the security perimeter, some of them attempted to cross the barriers set up by the police. After several minutes of pushing and clashing with the officers, the protesters managed to break through the metal fence and penetrate beyond the first security cordon.
The situation escalated rapidly, as the crowd split into several different groups. At times, the police had difficulty controlling the movements of the protesters, who scattered along various road axes in an attempt to approach the Prime Minister's Office.
Some of the protesters reached the vicinity of the Prime Minister's Office building, where they were confronted by numerous police forces and specialized State Police vehicles. To prevent their approach, the police used water cannons, while a second security perimeter was set up in the area.

A high presence of law enforcement was observed throughout the protest. Dozens of officers, police vehicles, and rapid intervention structures were deployed on the ground, in one of the largest security operations in recent days in the capital.

Earlier, the Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, clarified that the installation of the metal fence was not related to the protest, but to the security measures taken for the Albania-Israel friendly match.
" This area is a security zone for the Albania-Israel match. That is why this measure was taken. These are security measures that are taken in every match and we cannot make any changes today ," Hita declared.
Today's protest comes on the fourth day of mobilization against the project in Zvërnec, while citizens and activists have warned that their opposition will continue until the project is withdrawn. Meanwhile, the government continues to defend the investment, considering it a strategic project for the development of tourism and the country's economy.
