Albanian sports are in mourning after the passing of one of boxing's most prominent figures, Rami Sadushi, who passed away at the age of 84.
Rami Sadushi was born on July 1, 1942 in Vlora, into a working-class family with patriotic traditions. After completing his 7-year education in his hometown, he moved to Tirana to continue his studies at the “Skënderbej” military high school.
During his school years, in addition to good academic results, Sadushi devoted himself to the sport of boxing, where he quickly demonstrated his talent and skills. After graduating from high school, he continued his studies at the Joint Officers' School, combining his military career with his sports career.
In 1963, he was commissioned as an officer and assigned to the Skanderbeg School. At the same time, boxing was discontinued as a sport in Albania, prematurely ending his active career in the ring. However, by that time, Rami Sadushi had built an admirable record.
He was declared champion of the "Skënderbej" school, champion of Tirana, five-time national champion and two-time Army champion. One of the most important international achievements was the runner-up title at the GANEFO Games, held in 1963 in Bogor-Batavia, Indonesia.
For his outstanding contribution to sports, Sadushi was awarded the high title of “Merited Master”. In parallel with his engagement in the army, he continued his professional qualification at the Defense Academy and in physical education institutions, contributing to the formation and development of Albanian sports.
Rami Sadushi will be remembered as a talented athlete, a dedicated soldier and a personality who left an important mark on the history of Albanian boxing. His passing is a great loss for the sport and for all those who recognized and appreciated his contribution over the years.
