The Albanian Football Federation continues its efforts to bring together footballers of Albanian origin who are active abroad, but at the moment two of the most talked about names, Brajan Gruda and Nelson Viper, have not given positive signals to join the red and black national team.
Albania's deputy coach, Ervin Bulku, announced on the show "House of Football" that Gruda has asked for time and remains focused on the opportunity to represent Germany.
" Seeing the needs we have in the team, it is normal that the door of the national team is always open to all those who wish to represent the national team. But if we focus on specific names like Brajan Gruda, we have been by his side the whole time. The first invitation was made to him many years ago, when he was 15 years old with the national youth teams, but he decided to represent the youth teams of Germany ," said Bulku.
According to him, contacts with the player have continued until recently, but the response received from his representatives has been clear.
" Not long ago, I had a communication, I personally with him, together with the coach, and we were told by his manager that we should leave Brajan alone. At least for two years or even more, because he wants to represent the German national team. We have done everything. The entire technical directorate and up to the president are engaged. We have asked to have a meeting with him, but this has not been made possible by the player ," Bulku said.
A similar situation exists with Nelson Vaiper. According to the red and black assistant coach, the footballer is currently in Albania on vacation, but has refused to hold a meeting with the national team's technical staff.
" Vaiper is in the same situation. He is currently in Albania, he is on vacation, because Albania is beautiful and it is their country. It is located on the southern coast. We have communicated with his relatives and have asked to meet him together with the coach. He has asked us that he is currently on vacation and we cannot have a meeting or friendly conversation with him ," Bulku declared.
He emphasized that the AFF's interest in Viper is not new and that contacts with the player have been ongoing.
" Let's not forget that this is not the first time we have communicated and asked to become part of Albania. But Viper has decided to play the European Championship that will be held in our country with the German U-21 national team ," Bulku concluded.
Bulku's statements confirm that, despite the insistence of the Albanian Football Federation, both Gruda and Vaiper continue to see their international future linked to Germany.
