A false claim is circulating widely on social media linking French footballer Kylian Mbappe to an alleged sexual harassment allegation against French President Emmanuel Macron. According to posts and videos shared online, this allegation is alleged to have been the reason for Mbappe's departure from PSG to Real Madrid.
However, verifications conducted show that this information is false and is not supported by any reliable media source. No reputable international media has published such news and there is no evidence to support the claims spread online.
The source of the misinformation turns out to be a fraudulent website that imitates the sports media outlet “ Eurosport ”. The website uses a very similar website address to the official one, and copies elements of the media outlet’s visual identity, including the logo and design, with the aim of making the content appear authentic.
Fact-checking experts say this is a typical case of disinformation, where well-known names and public figures are used to attract public attention and generate clicks. Doubts are also added by the fact that the video accompanying the claims may have been manipulated and contain voice created with artificial intelligence.
The case highlights the danger of spreading fake news on online platforms and the importance of verifying information before it is considered true or distributed further.
