Journalist Lavdrim Lita has raised the alarm about fire safety in the capital, following the incident that occurred the day before in the "Pharmacy 10" area in Tirana.
Invited to "A2 CNN", he stated that Albanian cities face a constant risk due to the lack of proper infrastructure for emergencies.
"We are facing a permanent danger in our cities. They have turned into matchboxes and we risk being trapped inside," said Lita.
He pointed out the discrepancy between the development of multi-storey buildings and the current capacities of the fire service.
"If we have 20, 30, 40 or 50-story buildings and we have firefighters up to five floors, where will these people escape? " said Lita.
Ironically mocking the lack of practical solutions, Lita added: "We can't buy parachutes for everyone to fly from high floors, along with children and the elderly. This is a situation that requires real solutions, not improvisations."
According to him, international practices provide clear models for fire risk management.
"The world has provided solutions: prevention, alarm systems, the use of drones and many other assets that can be installed in a building or managed by municipalities to prevent or treat a fire," Lita declared.
