International Relations expert Florian Arapi has raised strong doubts about the appointment of Defense Minister Ermal Nufi, stating that he may have been placed in this position through the influence of an Israeli businessman close to Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Invited to the show "Off the Record" with Andrea Dangli on A2 CNN, Arapi stated that there are public documents and evidence that, according to him, should be taken seriously.
" The Minister of Defense of Albania, Nufi, is a person who is suspected of being placed in that position with the influence of an Israeli, a friend of Rama in Albania, named Ron Jefet, and some documents and some evidence have been released to the public, which are to be taken seriously beyond his belief. He has a closeness to Zionism in general, but also these relations that he has had with this Ron Jefet and these public statements that have been made make you think that there is something true and there is something serious to suspect in this matter ," Arapi declared.
Commenting on the visit to Tirana of Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias and his meeting with Albanian counterpart Ermal Nufi, the expert also touched on geopolitical developments in the region and the strategic cooperation between Israel, Greece and Cyprus.
" I don't know what stage they are in, but they have an agreement to send Israeli air defense systems to Greece to protect Greece. The same thing with Cyprus and Israel is in a difficult situation due to various wars and various actors in the region. The actor that it seriously fears more than all the others is Turkey, because Turkey is a capacity, a very large state both in military potential, but also in geographical terms it is much closer ," said Arapi.
According to him, recent developments in the region and the strategic rapprochement between Greece, Cyprus and Israel are also affecting relations with Albania, while Athens is increasing political pressure within the framework of the country's European integration process.
