Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the extended meeting of the SP parliamentary group held on Saturday, revealed the next "enemy" that seems to have disturbed his peace, the algorithm. In the long speech given before the deputies, Rama dedicated most of the time to what was happening on social networks, which according to him, due to algorithms, the "lies" that are told about him, were taking on the status of truths.
"Just as it has become true that I have become a cocaine user, the word drug addict is a refrain that follows me as true. Just as it is true that I have accused my father of having an affair with my girlfriend and the paternity of my son, whatever I say is true. The algorithm has finally made this true. What does it matter what I say. Of course, for this reason I do not say this regularly, because it has no value. We are no longer in a social, political, democratic relationship, but we are in a laboratory where in real time the algorithm, the virus of reality, symbolism and lies produce a parallel reality, which has become the truth," he said.
Rama's statements were followed by a series of reactions, where focusing on the protests, his critics, including many well-known names and figures in the ranks of the Socialists over the years, reminded the Prime Minister that those protesting had nothing to do with the algorithm.
Meanwhile, Irena Beqiraj, former Deputy Minister of Finance in the socialist government, in a reaction on social networks, writes that Edi Rama is today paying off debts with all interest. Beqiraj brings to attention the fact that for years Rama had created a very high popularity on social networks.
" The algorithm explains what shocks and not what explains. They are half-truths, which spread very quickly."
