The Albanian Prime Minister will hold a working meeting with the French President in Paris, where the EU membership process, French investments and joint projects in several strategic sectors are expected to be discussed.
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, will host the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, in Paris this Monday, in an official meeting that will take place at the Élysée Palace.
The meeting comes in the wake of frequent contacts between the two leaders in recent years and is considered part of the ongoing dialogue between France and Albania on issues related to European integration and bilateral cooperation.
Macron and Rama have met several times in recent times. Their meetings have taken place in both France and Albania, including visits to Paris in 2024 and meetings in Tirana in 2023 and 2025.
According to the planned agenda, an important part of the discussions will be dedicated to Albania's European integration process. The French President is expected to reaffirm Paris' support for the continuation of membership negotiations, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling the reforms and standards required by the European Union.
The talks between the two delegations will assess the progress of the reforms that Albania is implementing within the framework of the accession process, as well as the further steps that need to be taken to advance negotiations with Brussels.
In addition to European issues, the meeting will also focus on economic cooperation between the two countries. France remains one of Albania's important partners in several strategic sectors and the leaders are expected to discuss opportunities for expanding French investments in the country.
One of the topics that will be addressed is related to the project for the construction of a French lyceum in Korça, which is considered an important initiative in the field of education and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Also on the agenda are projects that the French Development Agency (AFD) is supporting in Albania, particularly in the energy and environment sectors. These initiatives aim to modernize infrastructure and support sustainable development.
Cooperation in transport and infrastructure will also be part of the discussions. Both sides are expected to explore opportunities for new projects and strengthening the presence of French companies in sectors of importance to the Albanian economy.
Another important topic will be cooperation in the field of defense, at a time when European security and geopolitical developments remain at the center of attention of NATO member states and their partners.
According to the official program, at 1:00 PM, President Macron will receive Prime Minister Rama in the courtyard of the Élysée Palace in an official ceremony that will be open to the media.
After the protocol reception, at 1:05 PM, the two leaders will hold a working lunch behind closed doors, where issues related to bilateral relations and common priorities between France and Albania are expected to be discussed in detail.
Meanwhile, French authorities have announced that media representatives wishing to attend the official ceremony must have submitted their accreditation request by 09:00 on June 22, 2026. After approval of the request, journalists will receive an electronic confirmation, which will serve as an entry document to the Élysée Palace premises.
