Lawyer Edmond Petraj stated that the "McGonigal" case raised by the opposition is legally invalid and has no effect in Albania.
According to him, McGonigal was the administrator of the company "LawOffice & Investigation", registered in Albania in 2008, during the government of Sali Berisha. The company has a partner Shefqet Dizdari, a name close to Berisha.
Petraj emphasized that the case has concluded in the US, where McGonigal has been convicted, and that the opposition's attempts to politically use this case against the majority do not stand legally and do not constitute a basis for actions on Albanian territory.
" The part that they are dealing with in the McGonigal case is a dead case, a case that is surprisingly only produced in Albania and it is thought that with this pretext they want to overthrow or undermine part of the majority. To overthrow Rama, this is not the right form. Why is the case dead? The McGonigal case is a matter of a criminal proceeding initiated in America, investigated by the FBI and the prosecution has taken the defendant, has gone to court and has been convicted.

The relationship for which this law firm, which was founded in 2008, which at one point, one of its administrators is McGonigal, is the same person who was convicted in the US for what he was caught in the affair and found guilty of by the American Court.
