The German Ambassador to Tirana, Karl Bergner, while congratulating the new head of SPAK, Klodian Braho, on taking up his new position as head of the Special Prosecution Office, stated that the fight against corruption and impunity must continue.
Bergner emphasized that Germany will continue its cooperation with SPAK and support Albania at every step on its path towards the EU.
"I congratulate Mr. Klodian Braho on assuming his position as head of SPAK and wish him much success in this important task. At the same time, I thank the current head, Mr. Altin Dumani, for his contribution to strengthening SPAK's resilience against political pressure as well as for his determination and integrity. Under his leadership, SPAK has made progress in the fight against high-level corruption and has strengthened public trust in the justice system. This has also been appreciated in the EU progress reports.
"The fight against corruption and impunity, as well as guaranteeing the rule of law, are the shared responsibility of all central institutions and an essential element on Albania's path to EU membership, a process that is supported by the overwhelming majority of Albanian citizens. We call on all institutions to fulfill their duties, exercise responsibility and cooperate fully to guarantee accountability for the benefit of every citizen. We are happy to continue our cooperation with SPAK and support Albania in every step of its path towards the EU ," the German Embassy said in a statement.
