As the protest announced by the opposition approaches, the Municipality of Tirana has launched an unusual operation in the heart of the capital. Its employees have been filmed moving the New Year tree and festive decorations that were placed in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
The move comes just hours before the start of the rally on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard, where the opposition will gather citizens in a protest against the government. It is expected to start at 6:00 PM and the possibility of tensions cannot be ruled out, given the political rhetoric of recent days.
This move by the Municipality seems like a preventive measure to protect the festive decorations from any possible incident during the protest. But at the same time, it sheds light on the tense climate that prevails between the government and the opposition, where even the end-of-year decorations become "collateral damage" of the political confrontation.
