Artan Hoxha: Real corruption is hidden in large projects, not in SPAK

Journalist Artan Hoxha has made strong accusations about the way the fight against corruption in Albania is being presented. He stated that SPAK statistics are being used to create a false perception of success.

According to Hoxha, the focus on investigations against mayors of small municipalities does not reflect the reality of corruption in the country. He argued that the greatest damage is related to large public projects, citing infrastructure investments such as the Arbër Road and the Llogara tunnel, which he said have created high costs for the state.

The journalist stressed that corruption at large levels is more dangerous for the economy, as it involves significant public funds and strategic projects. He added that, although there are reports of an increase in investigations, this is not translating into a decrease in the phenomenon.

Hoxha also raised concerns about other public sectors, citing healthcare and the lack of capacity in hospitals, as well as construction projects that, according to him, do not address the real needs of citizens.

In his analysis, he argued that the level of corruption remains high and, despite the actions of justice institutions, the public perception is that the phenomenon continues to be widespread. Hoxha stated that the current situation raises questions about the effectiveness of anti-corruption policies and their real impact on the lives of citizens.

" This tale that corruption is being fought here by selling SPAK statistics. And you say, there are 40 mayors who have been investigated for corruption. Let's start. Mayor Bajram Curri, where does he stick a nail on the map of Albania? Imagine how much money he has, what corruption he can do, the mayor of Fushë-Arrëz, the mayor of Bulqizë. And we come to the last joke that Çimi used. To the part about the telescope and the hole. If Shukri's hole was created, it is not worth a single lek anymore, at most it harmed Shukri. It did us no harm.

But the tunnel hole that leads to Saranda and the tunnel hole that never ends for the Arbër Road and the Llogara hole, do you understand how many, those are holes that have been opened for Albania. They have opened for Albania. This other man who is in charge, they can't put him in like Shukriu because he hasn't worn pants for a meal, he will wear pants today. You can't get to the pants because he doesn't have any. We are talking about the damage that has been caused to the country.  And when he comes out, and when he comes out today and says, we have the highest level of the fight against corruption, when those who have done corruption before, by picking pockets, pick pockets. Such levels of corruption, that you don't have the object at all and you continue to pay money. You have two 'Tigers' there, who have blocked the coast of Vlora there and you pay them 91,000 euros every day. Without even getting excited.

So, this level of corruption is as scary as what Anthony said, they take money from you and when you cross the street, they take money from you if you think about it. When you think about having to solve a problem, the first thing you think is, do I have so much money?  When the prime minister went at the beginning of January to the Oncology hospital, which is the hospital that has the highest number of deaths due to illness, due to this country, which has lost its young generation and look what happens to it. And he goes there, there are only 19 beds in this hospital and people are doing chemo on their feet and he says we will open 1400 parking spaces and he builds a hotel right in the middle of the hospital.

Now where do you go? What corruption are you fighting? The more SPAK takes a mayor to court, the more the level of corruption increases. And I'm telling you today, judges and prosecutors who have passed the vetting, you can no longer lie to them with 2,000 euros, 5,000 euros. Today they have the maximum numbers. This fight, that we fight corruption, corruption is increasing.  This makes no sense and has no logic. And this is the big problem we have today. And with all this great corruption, you have no chance of winning the elections because he won without starting the campaign. Because he bought you, from A to Z you are finished. You have no choice. He has bought everything. He recruits, he corrupts, they are buying the diaspora too",  said, among other things, journalist Artan Hoxha on the show 'Çim Peka LIVE' on SYRI TV.
