Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço has raised the alarm about the relocation of fraudulent call centers from Albania to Kosovo, following the crackdown by Albanian authorities against these structures.
Invited to Euronews Albania, Karamuço stated that some of the companies that operated according to the Italian model of telephone fraud have left Albania and are being reorganized in Kosovo.
" What happened to those famous call centers, which were an Italian model? They have fled to Kosovo. We closed them, but Kosovo is taking them over. Because that criminal seed will sprout again. The problem is money. Some of them have very strong signals ," Karamuço declared.
According to the criminalistics expert, the groups behind these fraudulent schemes have not disappeared, but have simply changed territory to continue their activity.
He hinted that the criminal networks that managed the fraudulent call centers continue to have financial power and strong connections, finding ways to return to the market even after police operations.
Fraudulent call centers have been the focus of Albanian and foreign authorities for years, as they are accused of financial fraud against European citizens through fake investments, online stock exchanges, and other illegal schemes.
In recent years, SPAK and the Albanian police have conducted several major operations against these networks, arresting dozens of people and seizing millions of euros. However, Karamuço's statements suggest that the phenomenon has not disappeared, but is moving to other countries in the region.
