UEFA has decided to implement a new rule in all its international tournaments that is intended to avoid delays in the game. We are talking about delays by goalkeepers.
Previously, there was a rarely applied rule for a delay of 8 seconds with the ball in the hands of goalkeepers, which was punished with an indirect free kick in favor of the opponents in the penalty area.
UEFA last night determined that the rule will change starting from the U-21 European Championship taking place in Slovakia, applying the idea approved by IFAB and previously tested in other tournaments, where in the event of this violation, a corner kick will be awarded in favor of the opposing team.
At the same time, referees have been reminded to be more attentive to the implementation of this rule, in order to avoid unnecessary delays in the game by goalkeepers.
The rule in question will be applied to all international activities organized by UEFA, which means that Albanian clubs participating in its competitions must also be aware of this change and prepare for the eventuality in question.
