The Albanian national team's June matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers have highlighted a fact that was clearly evident in both matches played. Several players who were untouchable in the previous edition of the European Championship and Nations League qualifiers have now become second choices and are gradually disappearing from the spotlight.
Everything has become very visible with the trio of Jasir Asani-Ylber Ramadani-Nedim Bajrami. All three were among the main protagonists of Albania's qualification for the European Championship, all three were untouchable in Silvinjo's preferences and undisputed starters in the ranks of the Rossoneri for better or worse.
But something has changed since the first match of these qualifiers, against England. All three were starters in that very disappointing match and a few days later all three found themselves on the bench against Andorra, being spectators for 90 minutes.
The situation was repeated in June against Serbia, with Bajram entering the field in the 63rd minute and Ramadan only in the last 6 minutes. For Asan, not a minute.
The energy spent against the Serbs by the starters did not convince Silvino to give them space against Latvia and in Tuesday's match, all three of these players were again among those on the bench. Bajrami was the only one who saw the field of play, being activated in the 69th minute. The other two remained spectators.
It seems like the end of a hierarchy created for some players who were seen as untouchable in the starting lineup. Now we wait for September to understand the next stage of this somewhat drastic change of Silvinjo, who must admit that he has shown that he does not find it difficult to forget the contribution of red and black footballers in the past.
