Former national team captain, Rudi Vata, commented on Albania's 1-1 draw away to Latvia.
Speaking on "A2 CNN", he stated that Albania is still small and that Silvinjo has made mistakes in the most important moments and matches. He calls the Brazilian an inexperienced coach and this is reflected in the choices he makes in Albania.
" On paper, Albania is a much stronger team, but Latvia has a coach from the Italian school and is tactically very organized. Many things did not go well and the team's energy was lacking. If you claim to go to the World Cup, you have to win matches against teams like Latvia. I think we are still a small national team, we are not ready to go to the World Cup ."
Further, Vata criticized Silvinho:
" I think that as a footballer he has reached the highest levels of professionalism, but being a coach is something completely different. Silvinjo has certainly made mistakes, he is a young coach who is learning the trade. He is gaining experience with Albania. He is making mistakes at important moments, but he is the coach of Albania after all. He must take responsibility.
If Silvinjo sent us to the European Championship, he is responsible for not sending us to the World Cup. But, I think that the problem of Albanian football is not the coach, but the mentality. We have the footballers, but you have to know how to manage the footballers. We do not have enough staff. Just the coach of the national team and his staff are not enough. We have a shortage of professionals .
