A fire broke out this afternoon in the hills of the village of Babicë, in Vlora, causing alarm among residents of the area. The flames spread rapidly due to high temperatures and strong winds, endangering several homes and damaging significant areas of vegetation.
The fire mainly involved bushes, orchards and olive groves, while as a result of the flames, several olive tree roots were also burned. The rapid spread of the fire necessitated the immediate intervention of the Vlora Fire Service forces, which arrived at the scene to bring the situation under control.
The extinguishing operation lasted about an hour. After intensive work, the firefighters managed to initially isolate the source of the fire and then completely extinguish the flames, preventing them from spreading to the residential area and avoiding greater damage.
According to preliminary information, the fire only caused material damage to vegetation, orchards and olive groves, while there are no reports of injured people or damage to homes.
Authorities are continuing verifications to determine the cause of the fire, while appealing for maximum caution during this period, when high temperatures and wind significantly increase the risk of fire outbreaks.
