Albania U-16 suffered a 1-2 defeat against Sweden in the second match of the “UEFA Development” tournament, held this afternoon at the “House of Football”. The team led by coach Armand Dama showed positive performances at several moments of the game, but failed to avoid defeat.
The Reds started the match with this starting lineup: Marsid Hoxha in goal, while Drion Ibrahimi, Denis Nikolli, Rian Nezaj, captain Jon Ajvazi, Sebastian Sina, Angelos Como, Tom Keqi, Klevis Basha, Lorent Zhara and Gentian Sharka were activated in defense and midfield.
Sweden took the lead in the 27th minute through Milo Pavlović. Despite Albania's efforts to restore parity, the first half ended with the hosts barely ahead.
In the second half, Albania responded by equalizing in the 53rd minute through Gentian Sharke. The Reds created several good chances and at one point looked more demanding on the field.
However, at the height of their game, Sweden seized an opportunity and scored their second goal in the 65th minute through Marruf Yahya Abdu, restoring the advantage that would prove decisive.
During the second half, coach Dama also activated Muji, Hyseni, Rrena, Lajić, Cekrezi, Mile, Sulaj and Xhemali, in an attempt to change the course of the game. However, the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
Albania U-16 will play the third and final match of the tournament on April 6, at 11:30, again at the "House of Football", against Austria.
