As he was about to leave the hospital, doctors brought Mircea Luçescu

Romanian football has been gripped by anxiety after the sudden deterioration in the health of former national team coach Mircea Lucescu, who has been going through critical moments in his life.

The 80-year-old suffered a heart attack just hours before being discharged from the University Hospital in Bucharest, where he had been admitted after a health problem emerged last Sunday. According to Romanian media, the immediate reaction of doctors was decisive in avoiding a fatal outcome.

To stabilize him, medical staff were forced to perform three resuscitation procedures. Currently, Lucescu is in the emergency department, under intensive care and undergoing further examinations.

His condition deteriorated again around noon, when he suffered another heart attack. In this case too, the doctors' intervention was successful, bringing him back to life.

The incident comes just hours after the Romanian Football Federation announced his dismissal, following the national team's failure to qualify for the World Cup.

Mircea Lucescu is considered one of the most important figures in Romanian football, with a long and successful career. In the 1990s, he also managed famous Italian clubs, including Inter.
