The Albanian national football team was defeated 0-1 by Israel in a friendly match held at the "Air Albania" stadium, giving a bad start to coach Rolando Maran's adventure on the red and black bench.
The match was decided in the 73rd minute, when Oskar Gluk took advantage of a quick counterattack by his friends and the spaces created in the Albanian defense. The Israeli midfielder finished with a diagonal shot, beating goalkeeper Alen Sherri and giving his team the lead.
After the goal, Gluk celebrated in front of the Albanian fans, an action that was interpreted as a provocation. The reaction was immediate from defender Elseid Hysaj, who verbally clashed with the goal scorer. The referee intervened, punishing both players with yellow cards.
Israel had a chance to double the score in the 82nd minute, but Alen Sherri proved decisive with a life-saving save, keeping Albania in the game until the end of the match.
Despite the tense episode during the match, the atmosphere calmed down after the final whistle. Players from both teams greeted each other in a friendly manner and there was no shortage of conversations between them on the pitch. Among the moments that were noticed was the communication between Albania's captain, Berat Gjimshiti, and Israeli footballer Manor Solomon.
The score remained unchanged until the end, with Israel securing the minimal 1-0 victory in Tirana.
