Murder of Liridona Ademaj, Naim Murseli and Granit Plava sentenced to life

The Basic Court in Pristina has sentenced Naim Murseli and Granit Plava to life imprisonment for the murder of Liridona Ademaj in November 2023, while Kushtrim Kokalla has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The decision was announced today by the presiding judge, Fatmire Dërmaku.

In her closing statement, the prosecutor in the case, Javorka Përlinçević, had requested life imprisonment for all three defendants, describing the murder as planned. The same request had been submitted by the victim's brother, Leonard Ademaj, as well as the family's lawyer, Leutrim Syla.

On the other hand, the defense of the accused had requested that the court's decision be based on evidence and be fair.

The event occurred on the evening of November 29, 2023, on a road in the village of Bërnicë, Pristina, where Liridona Ademaj was killed while in a car with her husband, Naim Murseli, and their two children.

According to the indictment, Murseli had planned the murder of his wife with the aim of financially benefiting from a life insurance policy in Sweden, worth around 260 thousand euros.

According to the indictment, Kushtrim Kokalla had mediated the acquaintance between Murseli and Granit Plava, who was accused of being the direct perpetrator of the murder. The prosecution alleged that the crime was committed in exchange for a payment of 30 thousand euros, promised by Murseli.
