Academic Rexhep Qosja passed away on April 23, 2026. The family made the news public through an announcement, which also explained the manner in which the funeral ceremony would be held.
According to family members, the funeral was held in the presence of a close circle, and there will be no reception or participation in institutional organizations, in accordance with the wishes of the deceased.
"We announce that today, on 23.4.2026, Rexhep Qosja passed away and was buried. The funeral took place in the presence of close family members. At the request of the deceased, no reception ceremony will be organized by the family. The family will not participate in institutional organizations. We ask that our privacy be respected and that we be allowed to mourn in peace! ", the family announced.
Meanwhile, the Kosovo Assembly reacted in session by holding a minute of silence in honor of the academic. The Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, informed the deputies about the passing and requested respect for this commemorative moment.
The figure of Qosje has been associated with Albanian academic and cultural life for decades.
