MP Olta Xhaçka has managed to 'steal' the mandate from her colleague within the party, Blerina Gjylameti, with only 2 votes...
The counting of votes for the Greek diaspora continued late into the night at Tirana's Olympic Park.
According to the official CEC tables, 192,155 envelopes with emigrant votes for the May 11 elections were counted and referenced, out of a total number of 195,141 .
So far, the Socialist Party has won 114,126 votes, or 60.06% , and the Democratic Party 46,009 votes, or 24.21%.
The difference in votes between the two major parties has exceeded 68 thousand votes in favor of the SP.
Nationally (counting diaspora and regions), the Socialist Party also has a very deep difference of over 312 thousand votes from the Democrats. Currently, the Socialists have a total of over 840 thousand votes, while the Democrats have 528 thousand votes.
The Albania Becomes Initiative secured 14,353 votes from the diaspora or 7.55%, Mdëndësia 5,864 votes, or 3.09%, Lëvizja Bashkë 2.25% and the Social Democratic Party 1.19%. The others are below the 1% threshold.
So far, the SP has secured 83 mandates, having managed to retain its 12th mandate in Fier after counting the envelopes of Greek emigrants for this district for the parties, while the Albania Together Initiative attempted to take it away.
The DP has remained at the quota of 50 mandates, after retaining the fourth mandate of Lezha yesterday with MP Kastriot Piroli, PSD with 2 mandates, Mundësia also with 2 mandates and 1 mandate each for Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet and Lëvizja Bashkë.
Currently, the counting of preferential votes continues, where the strongest competition remains that of Tirana within the SP.
MP Olta Xhaçka managed to 'steal' the mandate from her colleague within the party, Blerina Gjylameti, with only 2 votes difference, as nearly 43 thousand votes from the Greek diaspora were counted.
Gjylameti was only 19 votes ahead of Xhaçka in the count of the district and the diaspora of other countries, while the Greek one gave the final verdict, passing the mandate to Xhaçka. The count resulted in Xhaçka receiving 74 votes in the Greek envelopes and Gjylameti 53.

The other MP from the gender quotas who entered from the SP open list was Minister Anila Denaj.
The fight for one seat is currently between MPs Ornaldo Rakipi and Xhemal Qefalia. Rakipi has created a gap of at least 200 votes.
In the DP, the race is considered closed, as Jorida Tabaku is almost 3,000 votes ahead of Ilir Alimehmet and the diaspora vote is not expected to change anything for the only mandate of the open list in Tirana.
There is also a competition for preferences in Lezha only within the candidates of the DP and the SP to take each other's place in a mandate, only within the party and not between them. In the DP, Kastriot Piroli seems very disconnected from the follower Aleksandër Lala on the open list, and in the SP, the strongest fight is between Admir Kadel and Marjeta Neli, with the latter being hundreds of votes ahead of her party colleague.
The race between parties to grab a mandate ended yesterday (May 17), with the DP retaining its fourth mandate by only a few dozen votes. In Kukës, the race within the DP for the open list mandate ended with an upset in favor of MP Isuf Çela, who surpassed Shkëlqim Shehu.
Meanwhile, Besa Spaho in Korça is trying to retain her mandate from fellow socialist Eslemvera Zake.
