Citizens gathered in Tirana marched for the 11th time towards the Prime Minister's Office, articulating calls against the government and the opposition, including "Rama go, Berisha go", "Edi Rama, you traitor, resign as soon as possible" and "Government of crime".
"Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard has once again been filled with protesters marching towards the Prime Minister's Office, articulating strong calls against the government, but also against the opposition, in what the organizers describe as a civic movement independent of political parties.
"Rama go, Berisha go", "Edi Rama, traitor, resign as soon as possible", "Government of crime", "New Albania", "The homeland is ours" and "The homeland is not for sale" , are some of the slogans that dominated the protest held in the center of Tirana.
With national flags and banners in their hands, citizens marched from Skanderbeg Square towards the Prime Minister's Office. As soon as they arrived in front of the Prime Minister's Office, the national anthem was sung.
During the march, there was no shortage of ironic and harsh slogans against the government. Among the most attention-grabbing slogans was "Tepsia do kurban! Poshtë kirja!" , chanted by the protesters as they moved towards the Prime Minister's Office. With this message, the participants expressed their dissatisfaction with the current government and demanded the resignation of the government cabinet, linking the protest with demands for political change and new elections.
One of the main demands of the protesters, articulated yesterday, was the establishment of a transitional government, which according to them should take over the organization of the next elections and restore citizens' trust in institutions.
Participants argued that the country needs a break from the current political class, while demanding that the electoral processes be administered by a neutral and technical structure.
Unlike traditional political protests, today's rally was also filled with messages critical of the opposition. Some protesters accused political parties of trying to profit from citizen discontent, demanding that the protest remain independent.
"Hands off the protest , " "Don't use our cause for politics," and "This is a civic protest" were some of the messages articulated during the march.
The civic movement was born from opposition to the project envisaged in Zvërnec, but over the days it has transformed into a broader platform of dissatisfaction with corruption, immigration, the economic situation and the country's way of governing.
The organizers called on participants to remain calm and avoid any provocation during the rally, while emphasizing that the protest will continue in the coming days.
Similar rallies were held in parallel in Lezha, Fushë-Krujë and Lushnje, where citizens expressed similar stances against the government and the political situation in the country.
At the end of the protest, participants reiterated their demand for political change, free elections, and the building of what they called "New Albania."
