Troplini & Co: When the Albanian mafia writes new chapters in the archives of the Italian Antimafia

In Albania, the names Xhevdet Troplini, Adi Çoba and “Visi i Pojës” may not sound like politicians, but their real impact on society has been deeper than that of many MPs. From Bari to Lecce, from Brindisi to Mola di Bari, they have built a classic mafia network, with structures, a chain of command and international drug trafficking, cocaine and heroin originating from Albania and the Netherlands.

Thanks to the testimony of Nuredin Dumani, who in Albania is known as a fugitive from justice, but is in fact the most dangerous witness to organized crime, this organization was dismantled by the Italian Antimafia in cooperation with the Albanian SPAK and the German authorities.

52 arrest warrants are just the first part of a shake-up that is expected to sweep through many institutions.

This is no longer street crime. This is a consolidated structure, operating between two countries, with a money transfer system, cooperation with foreign groups, and sophisticated distribution schemes.

Now it is the turn of the Albanian judiciary to show whether it is a real partner in the battle, or simply a notary who signs the decisions of others.

The Mafia that votes, finances and controls: The Italian dossier that weighs on the Albanian government

When the Italian Antimafia publishes a file with 52 arrest warrants for a heroin and cocaine trafficking network between Albania, the Netherlands and Italy, we are no longer dealing with dark streets, but with much deeper connections: politics, power and elections.

At the head of the organization, according to investigations, is Xhevdet Troplini, with associates such as Adi Çoba and “Visi i Pojës”, names that are not unknown in criminal circles, but also in the offices of power in Albania. The same individuals have had a direct influence on the Albanian elections: guaranteeing territory, transporters, bought voters and centers that are “regulated” in silence.

SPAK may not have said these things publicly yet, but it has the data. And the Italian dossier lays it bare: drug trafficking was the means, but the goal was control, of money and power.

This is no longer just a criminal organization. It is the infrastructure that keeps the old politics alive in Albania. If justice does not dare to say it, history will say it. And it does not forgive./ Pamphlet
