Sali Berisha has pinned his hopes on the US for the overthrow of the elections. A document has been released in the media, which the DP has made available to its lobbying company in the US, and the latter is expected to inform the highest institutions in Washington about what the DP claims was an electoral massacre.
Key findings include:
Abuse of state resources: The ruling party used public resources and institutions to its advantage, blurring the line between state and party.
Patronage networks: A political patronage network was used to pressure the working public and influence voters, violating international standards.
Intimidation and pressure: Public sector workers and opposition supporters faced pressure and threats. Fear of police and fear of reprisals also discouraged voter participation.
Vote buying and criminal involvement: Criminal groups were implicated in vote buying operations for Socialist Party candidates. Authorities opened investigations into dozens of such cases.
Voting irregularities: Voting centers suffered from serious problems such as voter intimidation, violation of the secrecy of the vote, and limited accessibility for voters with disabilities.
Media Capture: The media was largely under government influence, resulting in self-censorship and a lack of independent reporting.
TikTok ban: The government's ban on TikTok restricted campaign communications, and the Central Election Commission failed to address several legal violations.
Lack of reform: No efforts have been made to implement past election recommendations, prolonging a flawed electoral process that hinders Albania's EU aspirations.
