The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime has left in force the security measure "prison arrest" for Eralbi Breçani, the son of the former head of the State Police, Erzen Breçani.
According to the official announcement, the trial panel reviewed Breçani's appeal against the decision of the Special Court of First Instance, issued on June 15, 2026, but decided to dismiss it, confirming the continuation of the security measure, based on Article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
In the SPAK investigative file, Eralbi Breçani is suspected of being involved in drug trafficking activities and that on at least two occasions he carried out this activity in collaboration with other persons.
The Special Prosecution Office has also raised suspicions about several communication groups on messaging applications, where, according to the investigations, Ervin Mata, Breçani's brother-in-law, also participated. According to SPAK, there are indications that these communications may have been used to organize or facilitate criminal offenses.
With the Appeals Court's decision, the security measure against Eralbi Breçani remains unchanged and he will continue to remain in detention, while the investigations against him continue.
