Prime Minister Edi Rama commented from the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tivat, Montenegro, on issues related to the European Union enlargement process, the integration of Albania, but also the debate of recent days about Zvërnec.
Asked by journalists about the protests by citizens, Rama stated that currently there is no concrete project that can be discussed or approved. He described the debate created as part of a "hybrid war" and asked Western media to verify the facts before reporting.
According to the Prime Minister, false claims are being spread on social media that behind the investment being discussed lies an agreement between him, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jared Kushner to bring Palestinians to Zvërnec.
"There are no requests to discuss because there is not yet a project to be approved. So, first we have to have the project and then we can see and discuss the project. But we cannot discuss a project that does not exist. But it is being presented on all social media in a hybrid war against Albania, with false narratives that this project is not a project, but something cooked up between me and Bibi Netanyahu through Jared Kushner to bring the Palestinians to Zvërnec," the prime minister said.
Among other things, Rama criticized Western media reports, emphasizing that they should be based on facts and not speculation.
He added that the goal is to realize a project that respects the environment and is supported by renowned international experts.
"And I think that the Western media should be very careful because facts matter and always matter, because there is no project, there is no reason to worry as far as the project is concerned. But also that the best architects in the world, the best engineers, are engaged. The goal is not to touch the environment but to do something extraordinary that will also be a gift from Albanians to all of Europe ," Rama concluded.
