The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted sharply after the serious incident that occurred in Korça, where during a police operation, State Police officer Enea Mekolli was killed, while another police officer was injured.
In his statement to journalists, Berisha condemned the killing of the officer, saying that the perpetrator was financed with state funds to build stables for livestock.
"Sponsored crime. He was an idealistic man. His brother had passed away. His family is a family with great contributions. But as painful as it is, the cruel murder by a criminal hand of a police officer on duty, so criminal and ugly is the attitude of the state, of the narco-state towards the murderer who had been wanted for 9 years, and was financed with state funds, to build stables, guest houses for cattle as if he were a dedicated farmer," he said.
Berisha's reaction comes a day after the operation conducted in the Lozhani area, in Maliq, where during the exchange of fire, officer Enea Mekolli lost his life, while his colleague, Edison Adri, was injured. At the end of the operation, the suspected perpetrator, Violand Braçellari, was arrested and wounded.
