The leader of the Christian Democratic Party, Nard Ndoka, has described the civic protest of recent days as the most important political development in Albania since the establishment of pluralism.
Ndoka said that civic mobilization has overturned the perception that Albanians do not react to political decision-making and that youth are disconnected from public engagement.
"It is a protest that gives hope and confidence that there are citizens who think beyond political tutelage. The idea was created that citizens do not react, that youth only sit in cafes, and this protest has completely overturned the story of Albanian politics ," he said.
According to Ndoka, the protest has caused concern in both the majority and the opposition, as for the first time a movement is emerging that is not controlled by traditional political structures.
Ndoka argued that the Albanian political system has been blocked for years by agreements between major parties, making the penetration of new political forces almost impossible.
According to him, what is currently happening in the squares is creating a new political reality, which is putting traditional actors on the Albanian political scene in difficulty.
"It is a protest that gives hope and confidence that there are citizens who think beyond political tutelage. The idea was created that citizens do not react, that youth only sit in cafes, and this protest has completely overturned the story of Albanian politics. That is why we see politicians worried and irritated. Edi Rama never thought that citizens could oppose him in his decision-making.
Rama is scared to death, but the opposition has also been placed in a very difficult position, as it thought that the square was the property of the opposition. The problem is that today we have a political system blocked by both sides and it is very difficult to penetrate this system. It has taken shape since 2008, with the agreements with Basha and Berisha, they have set obstacles so that they cannot be overcome by new parties. But what they are seeing today is scary and they are in panic. In this regard, there is a kind of hope, but to be realistic it is on the verge of impossibility , "added Ndoka on A2 CNN.
