The citizen protest seems to be causing more and more concern within the ranks of the Socialist Party. After days of reactions from Prime Minister Edi Rama and government ministers, the leader of the Socialist parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, has recently reacted.
Through a post on social media, Balla expressed dissatisfaction with the way the protest is being covered by international media, taking as an example Reuters' live broadcast of the protest held in Tirana.
" How could a small country like ours become global news? How could a local protest, which today has less than two thousand participants, be an international spectacle that makes Reuters broadcast it live? " Balla writes.
Further, he suggests that behind the interest of foreign media lies not concern about the Zvërnec issue or Albania, but other interests.
" Those with 'professional' dedication should not move the plan left or right, because that's where the presence of the participants ends. Then look at the title that is placed, to understand that they have no sympathy for Zvërnec, nor for Albania, for these 'actors' participating in this meaningless theater. They have a different problem ," he says.
