The chairman of the Together Movement, Arlind Qori, the chairman of the 'Albania Becomes' Movement, Adriatik Lapaj, and the chairman of the National Development Movement, Dashamir Shehi, have responded in different ways to the invitation of the Democratic MP, Belind Këlliçi, to unite and come up with a single candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, in the local by-elections that are expected to be held soon.
On the 'NewsRoom' show on A2 CNN, Qori was blunt in his response, categorically denying any collaboration with the Democratic Party for the local by-elections.
Qori said that only the Together Movement is the opposition party that fights in every way the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama, but also the entire political-oligarchic system created in Albania.
On the other hand, Shehi and Lapaj left open the possibility of cooperation with the Democratic Party, but according to them, this can only be realized under certain conditions, in the event of the election of a candidate universally accepted by the political parties.
Qori : "I don't think there is an opposition in Albania, in the sense of a community of parties that honestly oppose a way of governing. The genuine, true opposition, not only against the government, but also against the entire political-oligarchic establishment in Albania, is the Together Movement and for all these reasons, the Together Movement will compete as a party with its own candidate in the elections for the Municipality of Tirana, whenever they are held."
Shehi : "Well, I would be happy if this work were done and with my modest thing I am trying, at least with some idea. It depends on the character they want to put in. If they put in a guy who is attractive, who has moral and political prestige, I would go behind him with great pleasure. We did this work when there was Doctor Kosova and others and it was not without success at all. But it depends now, if Berisha's group wants to put in any of those who are around there, who have no problem winning the elections, but they have a problem representing these...".
Lapaj : "We are discussing with all our structures and we will have an official opinion on this, but unity was needed against the system. You remember before the elections that I extended the hand of cooperation to everyone and received mud and attacks from behind, to the point of betrayal. But which was more important, to break the system and fight Edi Rama, or to fight for the Municipality for a year that is the mandate there. How can you win the municipality, having him in the government there. Now we will speak the truth?".
