Prime Minister Edi Rama has continued his criticism of the opposition and in particular of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, whom he accused of having "captured" the opposition and holding hostage the development of a true political alternative.
In a speech delivered at the Brigades Palace during the Socialist Party’s celebration following its victory in the May 11 elections, Rama described the political situation in the country as divided between two “parallel universes.” According to him, the “majority universe” is the one where Albania moves forward and grows, while the “minority universe” is involved in speculation, baseless accusations, and rejection of reality.
" Unfortunately, Albanian politics will be divided into two parallel universes, our universe where Albania progresses, makes mistakes, walks and falls and grows, strengthens step by step and climbs the stairs to the top in the EU. In that minority Albania, the boundary between facts and opinions has been erased and there are 40 people who do not hesitate to invent and accuse without any evidence and diagnose the people as sick, sold out and scared because the country votes for the Socialist Party. The good news is that the majority no longer trusts them and when they listen to them, they listen to them to pass the time and the bad news is that this is not going to change.
The mindset of doing politics must change. As long as the opposition is caught in the clutches of a mayor who has left no stone unturned in this country, there will not be a challenging opposition for us but a disappointing swamp for its followers who stayed home on May 11. Because we have received our votes again, these 200 thousand that are missing are those who stayed home. If it were Luli, he would have fallen short, it would mean that they are dead, "he said.
