MP Dashnor Sula revealed that former Prime Minister Sali Berisha wanted Fatos Nano, former leader of the Socialist Party, to be elected President of the Republic due to a lack of votes.
Sula said that he and some colleagues never accepted this idea, as it did not make sense for the former leader of the Socialists to take the highest position.
"My personal morality and that of some others did not allow the former leader of the Socialist Party to be elected president of the Republic because it did not make sense. Berisha won the elections in 2005 because of his personal anti-corruption credentials and his political strength," Sula told "A2CNN"
He showed that although the numbers were lacking, the group within the DP showed that with will and strong political people, anything is possible.
"We showed that everything is achievable, nothing is impossible. Even in the campaign, you will need strong political horses and soldiers to win the elections, " he added.
On the other hand, Sula did not spare criticism for the way he has been treated today within the DP. He said that he offered the party his face, his contribution and his family's finances for a good result, but instead of gratitude, he faced exclusion.
"The door slammed in my face. In fact, the term was used in close discussions there: Let's not listen to Dash Sula's name, 'SPAK-isti Dash Sula,' " he said.
