Although “Emilia Pérez” had garnered 13 nominations and was considered the big favorite, the uproar caused by the racist views of its protagonist, Carla Sofia Gascón, seemed to affect its course. The film ultimately won only two awards, disappointing its supporters.
The big winner of the night was the film "Anora", which won a total of 5 Oscars: Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing.
