
The appeal of the GJKKO found Blendi Teta guilty and sentenced him to 25 years in prison for collaborating in the murder of former police officer Santiago Malko.
Teta was found guilty of charges of "premeditated murder" committed in collaboration within the framework of a structured criminal group and "structured criminal group".
We recall that Malko was executed in 2019 by the Duka criminal clan, whose leader Leonard Duka is being tried in a separate trial. According to SPAK, the executioner in the event was Fatmir Hyseni, known as Doçja, who is on international wanted list.
Malko was killed due to a clash between the Duka clan and Ervis Martinaj, the latter having disappeared without a trace since 2022. Former police officer Malko was one of Martinaj's most trusted men.
" The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a panel composed of judges Tereza Merkaj (presiding), Valdete Hoxha (member) and Edlira Petri (member), today on 04.12.2025, announced the decision on criminal case no. 60 act, registration date 21.07.2025.
This case was registered after the Supreme Court overturned decision no. 32, dated 14.06.2022 of the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime and returned for reconsideration with another panel of judges – disposed of the appeal filed by the defendant/appellant BT, against decision no. 05, dated 26.01.2022 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.
The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime ruled:
1. The decision no. 05, dated 26.01.2022, of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime is entered into force.
2. The costs of the appeal trial are charged to the defendant.
3. This decision may be appealed to the High Court within 45 days, starting from the day after the notification of the reasoned decision," the announcement states.
