A prostitution den has been raided in the city of Elbasan, and 8 people have been arrested.
According to police, three Chinese men were arrested for prostitution, while three girls (Chinese and Brazilian) were also arrested for prostitution. The illegal activity was carried out in two rented apartments.
The other three arrested people are Albanians caught red-handed with sex workers for payment.
Meanwhile, 3 other people have been placed under investigation; the apartment owners AV, 46 years old, BH, 36 years old, and the sanitation worker OT, 19 years old, accused of "Maintaining premises for prostitution".
"After several weeks of proactive investigations, the police operation codenamed "Shame" is being finalized. They had adapted two apartments they had rented in Elbasan for the practice of prostitution, 2 Chinese citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto for exploitation of prostitution and 3 other citizens (Chinese and Brazilian) for prostitution.
Three Albanian citizens who had given the monetary reward in return for personal gain from this activity were also arrested in flagrante delicto in these premises. The owners of the two apartments and the cleaner were prosecuted.
Amounts of money in various currencies, personal documents, identity cards, suspected fake stamps and 10 mobile phones were seized.
Specialists of the Trafficking Investigation Section, as a result of investigations conducted with proactive methods, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, for several weeks, to crack down on the illegal activity of prostitution, finalized the police operation codenamed "Shame".
As a result of this operation, 2 rented apartments were discovered in Elbasan, which had been adapted for the practice of prostitution, and they were arrested in flagrante delicto:
-Chinese citizens K. Ch., 44 years old, and RC, 38 years old, for the criminal offenses of "Exploitation of prostitution" and "Forgery of seals, stamps or forms", committed in collaboration;
-Chinese and Brazilian citizens LN, 46 years old, BG, 52 years old, and ES, 23 years old, for the criminal offense of "Prostitution".
These citizens had adapted rented premises for prostitution, and by promoting themselves on online sites, they offered sexual favors in exchange for payments.
Also, Albanian citizens AP, 38 years old and LT, 38 years old, and RF, 28 years old, were arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Prostitution".
Further, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office where criminal proceedings were initiated against the 2 apartment owners, citizens AV, 46 years old, BH, 36 years old, and the sanitation worker citizen OT, 19 years old, for the criminal offense of "Maintaining premises for prostitution". Amounts of money in various currencies, personal documents, identity cards, suspected fake stamps and 10 mobile phones were seized. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
