Following the announcement by the Police Supervision Agency (AMP) of the "house arrest" measure for Saranda Police officer Ajdin Islamaj, his father, Gani Islamaj, the owner of the building that became part of the investigation, has reacted publicly.
In a lengthy public statement, Islamaj categorically denies the accusations of illegal construction and claims that the property in question has all the necessary documentation approved by the relevant institutions.
" I declare with full responsibility that the allegations raised by the AMP and the Prosecution are untrue and create a distorted picture of the legal and factual reality. These allegations, in my opinion, are made with the intention of artificially aggravating the case to the detriment of my son, Ajdin Islamaj, who has been arrested unjustly and on the basis of a scenario constructed by the prosecutors of the case ," he says.
According to Gani Islamaj, the three-story building in Saranda is his property and is equipped with regular ownership and construction documentation.
" The 3-story building in Saranda is my property, documented with two ownership certificates. For the part that is claimed to be an unauthorized construction, I have a Development Permit and a Construction Permit, approved by the Municipality of Saranda. For this reason, I clearly declare that there is not a single meter of unauthorized construction in this building ," his response states.
He also disputes AMP's claims that the facility was built in violation of the law, emphasizing that the hotel is registered and operating normally.
" The hotel is regularly registered, has an active NIPT, as well as a registered trademark. It operates in accordance with the relevant law and regulations. For this reason, for full transparency, I will make public the relevant documentation, including the Construction Permit, Development Permit, ownership certificates, NIPT and other legal documents ," Islamaj declares.
In his statement, he also raises accusations against the manner in which the investigations were conducted, claiming that searches were conducted on his property without his being notified as the owner.
" I want to make it public that three house searches have been conducted on my property, without me receiving any notice as the owner. AMP employees have entered my property based on verbal orders from prosecutors, in violation of my rights as an owner and in violation of the legal guarantees that protect the inviolability of the apartment and private property ," he says.
At the end of the reaction, Gani Islamaj calls on the AMP and the Prosecutor's Office to stop, according to him, publishing false data and warns that he will pursue all legal avenues to protect his interests.
" I will pursue every legal avenue to protect my dignity, my property and the truth ," his statement concludes.
Earlier, AMP announced that investigations and technical expertise had resulted in the building where officer Ajdin Islamaj resides having an additional floor built without permission and other interventions carried out with the aim of adapting the building for hotel activities, claims that are now being disputed by the owner of the building.
