
The Tirana Court has ordered the security measure "arrest in prison" for Marsel Varka, Elsaed Maqinaj, Fabian Zakon and Kristaq Biba, arrested as part of the police operation codenamed "The Network", which hit a criminal group suspected of trafficking and selling weapons in the capital.
According to the investigation, the group was involved in the provision and trade of firearms, ammunition and explosives in various areas of Tirana. During the operation, the police seized four pistols, three Kalashnikov assault rifles, ammunition, mobile phones and other items considered important for the investigation.
Within the same file, authorities have also announced a search for Kevin Vila and Bledar Avdillari, who are suspected of having played a role in the group's criminal activity.
Investigations have revealed that the weapons were mainly obtained from other cities in the country and then traded in various areas of Tirana, especially in the Fresk and Allias neighborhoods.
Earlier, as part of this operation, Donati Jaku, Florian Gjeta, Urim Meta, Ligor Mehmeti and Klodian Mustafa were also arrested, who are suspected of being part of the same criminal network.
According to the State Police, a total of nine people were arrested during the entire investigation period. In total, 17 firearms, four TNT cartridges, a significant amount of ammunition, four vehicles and 13 mobile phones were seized.
