The first names of the people arrested as part of the mega-operation against illegal construction in the coastal area of Saranda and Ksamil have been revealed, where the focus of the investigation is on police officers, businessmen, builders and local officials.
Sources close to the investigation indicate that so far, Kristofor Shkrepa, a police specialist in the Ksamil area, as well as businessman Alqi Papa, owner of the "Oasis" hotel in Saranda, have been arrested.
Meanwhile, Kastriot Satka has been ordered to be placed under the security measure of "prison arrest", while security measures have also been imposed on businessmen Arjola Dhrami and Xhaferr Bajo.
According to preliminary investigations, their names are linked to a construction site for which four State Police officers were previously arrested, including the former chief of the Saranda Police.
The investigation file also includes builder Merdar Koshi, who is suspected of having built two floors without a permit in the center of Saranda. Investigators are verifying whether the constructions were tolerated or favored by police officers and officials of the institutions responsible for controlling the territory.
Sources indicate that the Prosecution has issued over ten arrest warrants for officers of the Saranda Police Commissariat, businessmen and other persons connected to illegal construction activity on the coastline.
The operation is being carried out by the Vlora Local Police Directorate in cooperation with the Saranda Police Commissariat, while the checks have been extended to apartments and business premises in Saranda and Ksamil.
The investigation has been launched on suspicions of abuse of power, allowing unauthorized construction, failing to report crimes, and collaboration between public officials and private entities operating in the southern tourist areas.
