45-year-old Vincenzo Bruno, arrested in November 2025 by the Guardia di Finanza at the port of Brindisi, will stand trial in Italy on charges related to international drug trafficking from Albania.

The investigation was conducted by the Brescia Anti-Mafia Directorate and focuses on a suspected transnational organization that trafficked large quantities of drugs from Albania to various Italian provinces, including Lecce.

According to the Italian prosecution, the group had set up a logistical network between Albania and Italy for the distribution of cocaine.

The investigation, coordinated by prosecutor Roberta Panico, describes a criminal structure where most of the suspects are Albanian citizens.

Bruno, born in Mesagne and resident in Lecce, is accused of participating in a criminal drug trafficking organization. According to investigators, he was considered one of the leaders of the group's base in Lecce.

The prosecution alleges that he and another person purchased large quantities of cocaine from the organization and then arranged for its distribution on the local market.

Bruno's name also appears in several episodes of cocaine trafficking between November 2020 and January 2021, a period during which around 137 kilograms of cocaine arrived in Lecce.

Italian media report that Bruno is the son of Ciro Bruno, a historical name of the Sacra Corona Unita criminal organization in Torre Santa Susanna, although the latter is not related to the current investigation.

After closing the preliminary investigations, Italian authorities ordered immediate trial for several of the suspects, including Bruno.

His trial will begin on September 17 at the Court of Brescia.
