The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, hosted a meeting with the Director of the Service for International Police Cooperation of the Italian Police, Lorenzo Bucossi, and the Director of the Central Operative Service of the Italian State Police, Marco Cali, where the focus of the discussions was the strengthening of cooperation in the fight against organized crime.
During the meeting, the parties evaluated the results achieved in cracking down on criminal groups, drug trafficking, laundering the proceeds of crime, and capturing internationally wanted persons.
Special attention was paid to joint investigation teams, which are considered one of the most effective instruments of cooperation between the two countries. According to the authorities, the State Police has the largest number of these joint teams precisely with its Italian counterparts, which proves the high level of trust and coordination between the two institutions.
The roundtable also discussed aerial monitoring and the fight against the cultivation of narcotic plants, a cooperation model that has produced concrete results and has been appreciated by international partners.
Skënder Hita expressed gratitude for the support that the Italian authorities have provided to the State Police over the years.
"We appreciate the continued support of the Italian authorities, both in the operational aspect and in building the professional capacities of the State Police," said Hita.
During the meeting, the contribution of the Italian partners to the Security Academy was also appreciated, through the exchange of experiences and the use of professional literature in the process of training officers.
In conclusion, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepen the strategic partnership, increase information exchange, and develop new joint initiatives in confronting international security threats.
