The Border Police in Durrës have today stopped a vehicle with several suspected eavesdropping devices. In the stopped vehicle, which was coming from Ancona towards Durrës, there were three people who introduced themselves as employees of the Guardia Di Finanza.
The ferry arrived at 11:00 PM and was due to return to Italy at 7:00 AM.
After inspecting the vehicle and carrying out checks, 2 of them turned out to be Guardia di Finanza officers, while the other person was not an officer (all three Italian citizens). They were questioned and returned to Italy, while the equipment, which is suspected of being used for wiretapping, was seized.
The situation remains unclear. It is still not known why the three people who were transporting the surveillance devices were released. It is also not known why these surveillance devices were being brought into Albania, who would use them and for what? It is not known whether the devices carried out surveillance.
