Kosovo border police have seized 120 kg of drugs on a bus coming from Albania.

A bus coming from Albania was caught with 120 kg of drugs in Prizren.

It is learned that the cannabis sativa drug was found after thorough checks by the border police, divided into packages, hidden in different parts of the bus without passengers.

Kosovo Police have arrested the driver, while the final destination of the drugs is still unknown. Authorities are continuing their investigations to uncover the possible transportation network and the final destination of the narcotics.

It is reported that the drugs found hidden on the bus were found under the seats where "pockets" had been created to hide the cannabis, divided into packages.

"The Anti-Smuggling Units of Kosovo Customs have foiled another attempt at drug trafficking at the entrance to Kosovo. On the "Ibrahim Rugova" Highway, near Prizren, customs officers stopped a bus coming from Albania and moving without any passengers. After initial suspicions, the vehicle was escorted to the Customs facility in Pristina for a detailed inspection.

The scanner and the K9 unit of the Kosovo Police were used in the process. During the search, in hidden parts of the bus, officers discovered about 120 kilograms of cannabis-type narcotics, divided into numerous packages and prepared for transport. The bus driver was immediately arrested by the Kosovo Police and all the seized material was handed over to the Anti-Drug Unit for further criminal proceedings. According to the head of the Anti-Smuggling Unit, Bekim Shala, the initial suspicions arose during a routine check on the Vërmicë-Prishtinë highway, near Prizren.

"We, as the Anti-Smuggling Unit, during a regular check on the Vërmica-Prishtina highway, near Prizren, stopped this bus. During the routine check, we became suspicious, as the bus had no passengers and we also suspected the vehicle's chassis, which could be counterfeit," declared Shala.

"Investigations are ongoing to uncover the possible transport network and the final destination of the narcotics. This operation comes just a few weeks after another similar case, where customs and police seized a large quantity of drugs in an action coordinated with the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, raising concerns about an increase in trafficking attempts along this route ," Kosovo police announced.
