
The Appeals Court of Kosovo has announced the verdict against Gjergj Cukali and 5 other people, in connection with the explosive attack on businessman Gjon Mena.
Based on the Appeals Court's decision, Cukali was sentenced to 25 years in prison, thus leaving in force the decision given by the first instance of the GJKKO.
Cukali and his associates, Enver Jamaku, Edmond Jamaku, Blendi Deda, Paris Prenga and Flor Abazi, were tried and convicted of involvement in a structured criminal group and attempted murder.
The panel of judges Tereza Merkaj (presiding), Engert Pëllumbi and Igerta Hysi decided to uphold the decision of July 31, 2024 of the First Instance, with some changes for specific individuals.
The defendant Enver Jamaku, who cooperated with justice, received a reduced sentence based on Article 28/7 of the Criminal Code and was ultimately sentenced to 7 years in prison. In the first instance, Enver Jamaku was sentenced to 8 years in prison.
Ermond Jamaku, the repentant's cousin, was sentenced to 8 years. For Blendi Deda, the sentence was reduced from 20 years to 18 years in prison.
The sentence for Paris Prengë and Flor Abazin was upheld. The latter are accused of carrying out the explosive attack on Artjan Bylyku, Domart Konjar's brother-in-law, in October 2019.
Investigations revealed that the target was Domart Konjari, a sworn opponent of Devi Kasmi, who was executed in Tirana 7 years ago.
Gjergj Cukali, known as the strongman of "Myslym Shyri", was accused of ordering the placement of TNT in the car of businessman Gjon Mena in Kamëz on February 9, 2021.
The police arrested Gjergj Cukali and two brothers, Ermond and Enver Jamaku, for the TNT attack in Kamëz.
